What Is With Record Labels & Social Media?

Warner Records is one of many many many record labels. What’s interesting about Warner Records is that it is a part of Warner Music Group (WMG), meaning that it is only one music label under Warner’s large umbrella of labels. Warner Records in addition to WMG’s Atlantic Records have been under a magnifying glass lately because of comments from their artists about having to produce video content in order to promote their music. While that is an entirely different conversation, in this blog post we are going to examine Warner Record’s own social media accounts, and the content they put on different platforms.

First when you arrive at their account there is a fair video to photo post ratio. Variety is a great thing!

The quality of their content is extremely high as well. A video post you might find for example would be a video showcasing all the music releases they are having in a week.

I think a great advantage that Warner Records has is that for any record label in general it is easy to recycle content. If an artist is releasing a song with a music video it is easy to take snippets of that music video, and post it to their record label account. This can be done for literally every artist on their roster. Lastly this is great because it gives the viewer so many different styles to see because all these videos are directed differently, with different stories, with different music, etc.

One thing I think they can improve on is consistency between platforms. From a social media manager standpoint it is easy to get lost, and only focus on Instagram. Warner’s last upload to TikTok was in August. So I suggest just making sure their content is evenly distributed amongst their respective platforms.
