She Is The Music (SITM) is a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to increase the number of working women in the music industry. As an organization they primarily use their website, LinkedIn, and Instagram to keep their audiences informed, and engaged. This blog’s focus is specifically geared towards SITM’s website and the elements that are showcased to their visitors there.
When you arrive to SITM’s website you are met by their home page. From the home it is evident their website has a strong professional presence. Some elements the home page include (in this order) are:
Members Spotlight
Mission
SITM Instagram Recent Posts
Programs
Stay Connected
The homepage does feel overwhelming simply because it has so many components without explaining what She Is The Music is. At first glance a visitor might not understand where to find answers when met with a members spotlight on the homepage. This however is such a small critique because the rest of the website is set up beautifully. As the site is explored and a visitor continues through the website they will find pages such as About, Job Board, News, etc. Basic positive observations would be that the site runs efficiently, the mission statement is presented clearly, and the site’s domain is .org. This alerts the visitor they are on an organization’s professional website. Another note would be that the “About” section is split into four subcategories: Mission, Annenberg Stats, Committees, FAQs. This makes it extremely easy to find specific answers to basic questions about the organization in hopes of understanding what they support, and how they achieve their mission statement.

The SITM website is also very user friendly. The design elements and graphics are not overpowering. Everything on the site has a reason for being there. There are no dead links, and no ads, that make the site hard to navigate. One notable critique can be found under their news section. It has not been updated since March 2022. For an organization that is very active it is important to keep tabs like this updated, especially when having big events frequently. Overall the site is accurate and informative. SITM has been around for five years, and in those five years they have created a professional digital presence as an organization.
Camille, you did an awesome job on your analysis. It seems like the website is very user friendly, but overstimulating when the a user first lands on the page. What would you change about it to help it seem more inviting to visitors?
Camille,
Wow!! (That's about all that is coming to mind right now to be honest.) Your post is so concise, organized, and clearly articulated. What caught my eye the most though is how you organized your website and blog visually. It's one of the best student portfolios (and portfolios in general) that I've seen so far. There is a great balance between content and compelling visual representation. Nice work Camille!
Hey Camille!
I really enjoyed how you dove into this website and picked out details that seem insignificant to the average viewer. This was a pleasant read and I am more than looking forward to more post from you in the future. How and when did you hear about "She Is The Music"?
Camille-
This is such an insightful post. You covered all of the angles, from the website design itself to the content on it. What do you think of the color scheme? What does it communicate?
Hi Camille! How do you think SITM can improve their website HOME/ABOUT to make it less overwhelming for the users?
